How RuteAppz Built a Custom Employee Transportation Management System for Tranzit
A customized corporate mobility platform designed to manage employee transportation, shifts, routes, vendors, safety workflows and operational profitability.

Project overview
Tranzit is a corporate transportation provider in Bangalore. It wanted to replace manual paperwork and generic, subscription-based software with a system shaped around its own business: employee shift rides, multiple transport vendors, multiple corporate clients and its own pricing and profitability needs.
RuteAppz built a customized Employee Transportation Management System (ETMS) for Tranzit, drawing on RuteAppz's existing taxi-booking software. The system combines an employee app, a driver app and an admin dashboard.

Business challenges
Tranzit's operations faced three groups of problems:
- Manual processes. Shift bookings, emergency rides and reporting depended on paperwork, which led to inefficiencies and errors.
- Limited customization. Subscription-based software on the market did not fit Tranzit's needs, such as multi-vendor management, custom pricing and profitability tracking.
- Complex enterprise operations. Managing several corporate clients, defining custom routes and handling shift schedules without an integrated system was cumbersome and time-consuming.
The RuteAppz solution
RuteAppz developed a tailored ETMS that brings employee bookings, driver trips, transport administration and reporting into one platform. Employees request rides in an app, drivers receive their trip details in another, and Tranzit's team manages trip sheets, vendors, corporate clients and pricing from a central dashboard hosted in Tranzit's own AWS EC2 environment.
Features
What RuteAppz built
Employee app
Book shift-based, ad-hoc or emergency rides, and view schedules, routes and trip statuses.
Driver app
Detailed trip information, including pickup and drop locations, with updates on route completion.
Admin dashboard
Centralized trip sheet management plus trip tracking and monitoring.
Routes and shifts
Custom routes with assigned pickup and drop timings, and scheduled employee shifts.
SOS and women's safety
An SOS button to alert the admin, and a women's safety feature with alerts for irregularities.
Vendors and corporate clients
Manage multiple transport vendors and corporate clients, with dynamic pricing adjustments.
Profitability tracking
Tools to calculate profit margins across routes, vendors and corporate clients.
Cloud hosting
Deployed in the client's AWS EC2 environment.
How the platform fits together
Employees, drivers and Tranzit's admin team work through one system, with routes, safety alerts, vendor and client management and profitability tools behind it.
Employee mobile application
Employees use a mobile app to book shift-based rides, ad-hoc trips or emergency rides. The app lets them view their schedules, routes and trip statuses in real time.
Driver mobile application
Drivers get detailed trip information, including pickup and drop locations, and can send real-time updates when a route is completed.
Admin transportation dashboard
Tranzit's team manages trip sheets in one place and tracks and monitors trips in real time. The same dashboard handles vendor and corporate client management, including dynamic pricing adjustments, replacing the manual paperwork the team relied on before.
Route and shift management
Administrators define custom routes and assign specific pickup and drop timings, and they schedule employee shifts so that transportation is planned to reduce costs and improve productivity. Routes and timings are configured by the team; the project brief does not describe automated route optimization.
Employee safety
The ETMS includes two safety features. An SOS button lets an employee alert the admin in an emergency. A women's safety feature is designed to ensure that female employees are dropped safely at their destination, with alerts sent to the admin if something is irregular. These are software features; this case study makes no claim of guaranteed safety or regulatory compliance.
Multi-vendor and corporate client management
The platform supports several transport vendors and several corporate clients at once, so that routes, pricing and operations can differ from one client or vendor to the next. This was one of the main gaps Tranzit found in generic subscription software.
Profitability tracking
Built-in tools calculate profit margins by route, by vendor and by corporate client, giving Tranzit a way to see which parts of its operation earn what. No margin figures are published here.
Technology and deployment
- Native Android and iOS apps for employees and drivers.
- A web-based admin dashboard.
- Hosted in the client's AWS EC2 environment.
- Built on RuteAppz's existing taxi-booking software.
The project brief does not specify programming languages, frameworks, versions, uptime commitments or certifications, so none are listed here.
Capabilities and intended business benefits
What the platform was built to provide
- Employee ride booking for shift, ad-hoc and emergency trips.
- Driver trip details and route completion updates.
- A central admin dashboard for trip sheets, vendors, clients and pricing.
- Custom routes, shift scheduling, SOS and women's safety alerts.
- Profit margin tools across routes, vendors and corporate clients.
Intended business benefits
- Less paperwork and fewer errors in bookings and reporting.
- A tailored solution in place of generic subscription software.
- Added confidence for corporate clients through safety features.
- A structure that can grow with more vendors and corporate clients.
These are the outcomes the platform was designed to support. No performance figures have been supplied for publication, so this case study makes no claims about trip volumes, employee numbers, corporate client counts, cost savings, margins or revenue, and it does not state how the system is used today.
